  • Game Adaptions For The Disabled?

Continuing with the arcade theme. You know I was quite the idealist & tried to adapt things so I could use them better from my wheelchair. When it came to arcades, I thought if they made some controller that resembled a Nintendo pad, other people in chairs might find it easier to play. Thus opening new avenues for the arcades, but alas, after writing the local arcade's owner, they never responded.

Have the video game companies like Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft taken the needs of people in wheelchairs under consideration? If they only scratched the surface, do you think there's a market for it?

  • Pikachu Cameos On The Simpsons

This is a guest post from Press The Buttons

With a new Pokémon game debuting these week in North America it's only natural that Nintendo would spring for a little product placement, but who would have guessed that it would happen on The Simpsons?  I'm sure the timing is just a coincidence, but this week's new episode, "Postcards From The Wedge", features Bart Simpson half-heartedly trying to do his homework while Pikachu's animated television antics distract him.  Eventually his father catches him watching the cartoon, causing him to take sharp(ie) action.  Here's a clip via Hulu:

  • Don't Believe The Hype. Final Fantasy XIII Is Awesome.

    (Source

A good while before America even got it, FFXIII was considered a huge disappointment. With good reason; our friends in Nihongo-land were shaking their fists, levying complaints against lack of gameplay, annoying characters, and an uninspired story. Honestly, with so many Japanese gamers decrying the game's faults, even I was getting skeptical of the game at some point.

Now that I've had the chance to play it, I find that I don't care enough about those shortcomings to hate it. Final Fantasy XIII is awesome.

  • Are Female Gamers Underrepresented?

I've been gaming since I first developed motor skills fine enough to hold a controller and push a button simultaneously. Since that point, I've been able to enjoy games not only by myself, but with all of my friends, and with the inception of online gaming, hundreds of thousands of other people as well.

In that time, however, I've noticed something very distinct about nearly all of my multiplayer gaming experiences: they're almost completely dominated by men. Except, women make up a fairly large percentage of the game playing population. A study by the Entertainment Software Association suggests that 40% of gamers are female, not a majority, mind you, but still a large enough percentage that one would think they'd be more noticeable. • Violence In Video Games

No, no, no, no, no this is not some post decrying violence in video games or claiming that it's destroying our society and so on and so forth. I quite love my violence, thank you very much. If I can't stab, maim, and kill in video games, well ... I might end up in prison because my frustrations with people will bubble over in a quite negative way.

No, this post exists simply to question why violence is the norm in video games. More Here...
