How many notes does a vampire have to whistle before he's referencing a popular video game franchise? That is the question at the heart of what may or may not be a shout out to Konami's long-running Castlevania franchise in the latest episode of HBO's True Blood, "9 Crimes". Some are saying that when vampire Eric rushes to help one of his human associates, he whistles four notes that sound a heck of a lot like the first four notes of the Castlevania "Vampire Killer" melody. Is the show actually referencing another famous piece of vampire fiction? Or is it just coincidence?

Crackdown 2 (360) is the continuation to the surprisingly good game for "cheap bastards" (sold at $20 at release, and thank you G4) that took a somewhat new IP to the third-person shooter, being titled as a "3rd-person action vertical shooter". That game got awards and high praise, this game does not. Now being sold at the retail price of $60, you would expect the game to be 3 times better than the last since it is 3 times the price, right? Nope, you'd be better off getting the first game. If you can get past the point that the game has alot of repetition and maybe have more fun online or co-op playing, the game just may be for you. As for gameplay? Nothing has changed. More Here...

Setting the Record Straight on Girl Gamers

There are several things I'd like to clear up about girl gamers today. First off, girl gamers are either thought to not exist, or are all ugly, fat, and geeky-looking. Let me set the record straight on both.

Now, it seems that there is too much focus on the new technologies (especially with the addition of gaming via internet) and not enough where it really counts. Take this for example, I bought an Xbox 360 three years ago, and since then I’ve been through four of them, and not a recurring problem, different ones each time.

When the warranty ended, one year per box, there was nothing left for me in Microsoft products and moved to Sony. Since the recent switch there have been little to no issues. That being said, the Playstation 3 put such a gaping hole in my pocket that the bill for Obama’s health plan couldn’t fit into it, and that missing money still hurts today. Not only was the Playstation around $500, games can cost anywhere from $45-$85 (depending on popularity/edition), and accessories can vary in high prices, all of which are a continuous strain on a person with(out) a paycheck. More Here...

Weekly Gaming Editorial: 4th Week Of June, Part I

Toy Story 3...and that's all I have to say. If you haven't seen the movie, then go see the movie and leave the theater either in tears of sorrow or joy. It's one of the best animated movies ever made and easily gonna be best animated movie of the year. I personally didn't think they could top Toy Story or Toy Story 2 with this but 10 years of planning apparently is good enough to make one of the best trilogies of movies of all time. Wait...on yeah, games.

I was supposed to talk about the game, but go see the movie. You can get the game on your own time, SEE THE MOVIE! More Here...

Weekly Gaming Editorial: 4th Week Of June, Part II

The Highlights

=The Reviews=

Wait, why are you looking here?! It was the biggest gaming week of the year, E3. Because of this, every gaming company takes all their focus off anything they're doing, and focus 24/7 completely on E3, so there are no reviews what-so-ever this week. Sorry, have to wait till next week for Toy Story 3 reviews! =P

Metal Gear Solid: Rising had a 45 second short revealing tease at last year's E3. At this E3, we get a nice showing of what we should expect from the new MGS. I don't have a lot of money despite me working my ass off. My internship is going no where. I feel very lost lately. And with all these things going on I've begun to feel very unattractive.

So to fix that today, and to cheer myself up, I decided to shower and primp. But instead of hopping into sweats to have a lazy day (which today was indeed a lazy day), I slipped into my favorite green nighty lingerie. There was no one at the house to even wear it for. But just being in it made me feel more attractive than I've been feeling.More Here...

Portal 2 Might be Awesome, But Give Me a New Half Life Already!

There have been some huge announcements this week at the E3 conference. I'm just as excited as I have been after every E3 but I am starting to lose my patience with the lovely people at Valve.

We all knew a Portal 2 was coming. No one could get enough of those interesting / mind boggling puzzles and the robot voice telling you lies of cake. I loved the first Portal. It was a great add-on to the legendary and O-gasmic Orange Box. It was 2 hours and that was all I really wanted out of it. But Valve has just loved teasing me over the past two years. Releasing two Left 4 Dead's and a new Portal is just pissing me off now.
